When the HWS post office receives mail for you, they will text or call to let you know packages are there for pick up. Ideal times to pick up mail is in the morning on your way to AgriTech or around lunch breaks. If you need to get mail after the post office closes, fill out the after hours pick up form here to arrange for your items to be placed in a locker outside of the Scandling Center Post Office for after hours pick up. If your request is approved, you will receive a confirmation
Housing at Hobart and William Smith Colleges (HWS)
Students will be assigned housing on the campus of Hobart and William Smith Colleges (move in Wednesday, May 27):
129 St. Clair Street (Trowbridge)
159 St. Clair Street (Hillcrest)
169 St. Clair Street (Farm House)
When you arrive May 27th, see your RA or designated person at the front of your assigned house to obtain your room/dorm key and room assignment.
Two (2) Resident Assistants from Cornell AgriTech will reside with the Summer Scholars.
There is a shared bathroom(s) located in each house.
Housekeeping staff will sweep, mop, clean bathrooms (sinks, showers, toilets) in the common areas, plus remove trash three (3) times per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday). Place trash by the front door
HWS has public Wi-Fi. No password is required.
Linens provided by HWS will include:
one sheet set
one pillow
one blanket
one bath towel
one hand towel
one washcloth
Washing machines and dryers are available in each house - no charge to students. The QR codes on the machines provide operating instructions.
The four houses on St. Clair Street are not air-conditioned. You are welcome to bring your own fan or air conditioner (standard sized windows). HWS facilities personnel will install all air conditioning window units and ask for 24 hours advance notice. Contact Dianna Snyder (Conference and Events Manager) at snyderd@hws.edu to request installation of your air conditioner.
Meals
Students are expected to shop for /prepare their own meals.
Students should plan to bring their own lunches daily. Cornell AgriTech does not have dining facilities. There will be some catered lunches as noted on the calendar of events.
HWS offers dining services at the Saga Dining Hall in the Scandling Center.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
breakfast hours: 8 AM - 8:45 AM
lunch hours (M - F): 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM
lunch hours (Sat & Sun): 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
dinner hours: 5:00pm - 6:00pm
Meals are all-you-care-to-eat.
Food may not be taken out of the dining hall.
Students may pay at the door (cash/credit/debit).
Each house includes a full-size refrigerator, stove and microwave as well as cupboard space.
Transportation
Cornell Fleet vans and sedan will be provided for student and RA use. Only those drivers who have been approved to drive will be permitted to operate Cornell owned vehicles.
Students are welcome to bring their own vehicles.
The vehicle information (make, model, license plate number) you provided prior to arriving was sent to HWS campus security.
Temporary permits are required for parking on the HWS campus.
Students are allowed to park on St. Clair Street.
